Virtual Reality was once the dream of science fiction, but so once were computers, the internet, and smartphones. Engaging, augmented reality is quickly becoming a part of daily life. However, there is still much to learn and discover, and a Limestone College professor and his students are peeling back the layers as they pave the way toward the future.

Firefighters in the City of Gaffney are healthier these days, all because of a research project that started in Canada.

So how did a health-related study in The Great White North make its way down to the Palmetto State and into a fire station in Gaffney?

Nearly three years ago, Dr. Felicia Cavallini, a Professor of Physical Education at Limestone College, served for 11 months at the University of Guelph as a Visiting Research Chair in the Human Health and Nutritional Sciences Department, and her primary focus was on physical activity and exercise.

The legacy of legendary Gaffney High School coach and educator Robert E. “Bob” Prevatte will have a permanent home at Limestone College, thanks to a record-breaking $4.1 million gift from the Richardson Foundation.

At a special groundbreaking ceremony held on Saturday, April 14, Limestone officials announced the “Bob Prevatte Athletic Complex” project that will expand and enhance the facilities at the Gaffney-based private liberal arts college.

On Saturday, April 14, at 11 a.m., Limestone College will make a major announcement and hold a groundbreaking ceremony honoring legendary Gaffney High School football coach and Cherokee County educator Robert E. “Bob” Prevatte.

Community members are invited to the event that will take place outside the Bob Campbell Field House, located at 130 Leadmine Street in Gaffney.

Limestone College will host a panel discussion on Diversity in Teaching on Monday, April 9, at 4 p.m. inside the Stephenson Dining Hall Banquet Room.
