Graduate Assistant Positions

  • Graduate Assistant for the Library

    Scope of work:

    To assist the Limestone University Library with smooth operations of computer systems and ensuring users get maximum benefits from them. Also, operations of computer software (Windows, remote access technology, Office 365, etc.) and assisting students with access and technical troubleshooting issues in person, email and over the phone. The Graduate Assistant will be able to communicate orally with customers and work closely with the library’s assistant director. 

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Liaison to the Limestone IT Department
    • Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications
    • Monitoring and maintaining computer systems
    • Communicating to faculty, staff, or students, either face to face, phone, or email to resolve issues
    • Troubleshoot system and network issues and diagnosing hardware or software faults
    • Replacing parts as required
    • Maintaining patron assistant reports for assistant director
    • Setting up new user accounts and profiles and troubleshooting password issues
    • Prioritizing IT open and closed library cases
    • Managing of library computer equipment supplies
    • Other duties as assigned

  • Graduate Assistant for Community Values

    Graduate Assistant will work 20 hours a week.

    Scope of work:

    To assist the Community Values office with advising the Student Government Association, planning events to serve commuter students, and assist with low-level student conduct cases. Assistance is needed in the Community Values office to ensure the Director can devote the needed attention and time to their current responsibilities. This added help will ensure the office’s ability to continue to operate efficiently.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Co-advising SGA, including attending SGA meetings, attending and supervising events, and assisting SGA with campus wide initiatives.
    • Observe and lead some initial student conduct process meetings for low level code of conduct violations. Low-level is defined as cases that would not lead to a likely outcome above Probation 1.
    • Plan events directed towards Commuter students like Commuter appreciation day, Commuter socials, etc.
    • Assist the Director in creating marketing materials and social media posts for various Community Values events.
    • Other duties as assigned.

  • Graduate Assistant for the Office of Admissions

    Job Summary:  General responsibilities for the position include the following:

    • Conducting prospective student information sessions to groups of visitors.
    • Data entry.
    • Represent Limestone University at high school fairs and application events.
    • Work as part of the Admissions team to schedule and organize group visits.
    • Work as part of the Admissions team to coordinate and organize special events.
    • Conduct campus tours when required.
    • Direct involvement in selected projects.
    • Monitor Social Media.
    • Work with Directors on Marketing Campaigns.
    • Manage Student Inquiry Tracker system. 
    • Assist in selection and training of Student Ambassadors

    Qualifications:

    The applicant must be a Limestone University Graduate program student with excellent oral, written, and personal communication skills. Additionally, the applicant must have experience with Microsoft Word and Excel programs. Social Media experience a plus. Problem solving ability, creativity, and understanding confidentiality with a strong work ethic are essential. 

    This is an excellent opportunity to work with admission professionals and gain valuable experience in group presentation, project coordination, and management.

With this currently being a department of one, this added help will ensure the Career Center continues to operate efficiently and that our services and offerings continue to grow.  

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Meet one-on-one with current Limestone students and alumni aiding with resume writing, interview preparation and job search strategies
    • Maintain database for job and internship postings
    • Promote career services and events through social media
    • Communicate in person, email, on the telephone, and through mailings with current students, faculty/staff, alumni and employer partners.
    • Responding to phone calls and emails while Director is out of the office to ensure office is always covered during office hours.

    To assist the College with providing guidance to prospective students, current students, and staff. See job description for more detailed information on daily tasks. Assistance is needed in the College to ensure the Directors and Department Chairs can devote the needed attention and time to their current responsibilities. This added help will ensure the programs continue to operate efficiently to ensure the programs continue to grow.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Contact all new inquires to provide information about programs.
    • Continue to follow up the inquires through all means of communication.
    • Promote undergraduate and graduate programs on campus at recruiting events and attending day classes.
    • Communicate in person, email, on the telephone, and through mailings with potential, current students, and alumni.
    • Assist with working events and meetings for the College and Departments, where practical.  
    • Assist Dean, Directors, and Department Chairs with filing and organizing.
    • Answering phones while Dean is out of the office.
    • Make evening calls one day a week during the evening hours to increase contact communication with potential students who work or attend school during the day.
    • Assist Dean in daily activities such as student advising preparation, social media posts, meeting preparation, and scheduling.
    • Other duties as assigned.
