Established in 1845, Limestone University is a non-denominational Christian institution founded on the principles of the liberal arts. Located on the site of a former limestone mining quarry in Gaffney, South Carolina, Limestone has been referred to as “The Rock” for countless decades.

For over 175 years, Limestone has embraced the challenge of educating students from diverse backgrounds. Your support, now more than ever, can transform our campus community and the lives of our students and their families for generations to come.

Together, we will “Protect The Rock.”

Limestone University is grateful for the generosity of its alumni and friends who are making an investment in our students through our new “Protect The Rock” fundraising campaign. With that philanthropy, we can meet the needs of current and future students. Your gifts will inspire future donors to invest in creating opportunities and addressing challenges, positioning Limestone as a regional leader in higher education. Our commitment is to high-impact learning, pathways to meaningful careers, and lasting connections.

Why Limestone?

Limestone University Spotlight: First Generation Students

Limestone University has a heart and a mission to serve first-generation students and those who come from areas where higher education has not been as available. We make Limestone a safe place to be and a place where people can grow. Our Saints come here, and we provide a community that becomes like a second family to support them every step of the way.
Limestone University Spotlight: 30-Second Commercial

Limestone University has been educating and nurturing students since 1845. Our students are not another number or a face in the crowd. At Limestone, we provide the individualized attention that only a small university can deliver. We also provide opportunities for those who might not have otherwise seen college as an option. Our students are not just a part of our campus… they are part of our family.
