Limestone Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet & Induction Ceremony Postponed

The Limestone College Athletics Department has announced that the 2020 Hall of Fame Banquet & Induction Ceremony that was scheduled for Saturday, March 21, has been postponed.

A new date for the event will be announced in the future.

The 24th Hall of Fame Class -- composed of Ryan Lanigan '00 (men's lacrosse), Rick Matthews '00 (men's lacrosse), Melissa Thomas Baker '10 (women's volleyball), the 2011 women's lacrosse team, and special inductee Tommy Martin -- will be inducted at a later date during the 2020-2021 academic year.

The ceremony will still be held at 1800 Drayton Catering and Events in Spartanburg, once a new date has been determined.

"With the current climate and the response to the Coronavirus outbreak that every athletic department in the nation is facing, we felt it was only appropriate to postpone this great event until a later date," said Mike Cerino, Limestone's Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics.

"As many of our Hall of Fame inductees will be traveling from many different parts of the country, the administration made the decision to postpone the Hall of Fame Induction with the safety and well-being of our inductees and their families as our primary concern," Cerino added.

Lanigan and Matthews, a pair of All-Americans that helped transform the men's lacrosse program into a national powerhouse, will be enshrined with the 2011 Limestone women's lacrosse team members who were the first national finalists in program history. Baker, the 2008 Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Player of the Year, and Martin, the founder and publisher of The Cherokee Chronicle, are to be inducted as well.
