Limestone Chorus To Deliver Singing Valentines On February 14

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and the Limestone College Chorus is once again making plans to help you surprise your special someone.

For the fourth straight year, the Limestone College Chorus is prepared to deliver an out of the ordinary gift later this month, a Singing Valentine.

The Chorus members will deliver Singing Valentines throughout the Cherokee County area on Wednesday, Feb. 14, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

For a fee of $25, the ensemble will visit a recipient's home, office, or a restaurant to present a flower or candy and a card, and then serenade the recipient with one of three songs to choose from – “You Are My Sunshine,” “Let Me Call You Sweetheart,” or “Sugartime.”

Proceeds will benefit the Limestone College Chorus, which is raising funds for an upcoming performance tour in Germany.

Orders can be placed by calling (864) 488-4509, or using a secure order form on the Limestone College website, www.limestone.edu/singing-valentines. All credit card orders should be done online.

Requests will be accepted until Tuesday, Feb. 13, at noon. Those interested in placing orders can select one of seven one-hour time periods for their Singing Valentines to be delivered.

For loved ones outside of Cherokee County, the website link can also be used to order telephone Singing Valentines for $10 each.

“This year’s fundraiser is especially important because the Limestone Chorus is headed to Germany for a performance tour May 13-20,” explained Dr. Gena Poovey, the College’s Professor of Choral/Vocal Education. “We will be tracing some of the steps of both Johann Sebastian Bach and Martin Luther.”

The tour is part of Limestone’s extensive program of celebrations this academic year to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Protestant Reformation. It has been five centuries years since Martin Luther set the Reformation in motion by nailing his 95 Theses to the door of the Wittenberg Church in Germany. The chorus trip will have stops in Berlin, Wittenberg, Leipzig, Erfurt, Eisenach, and Dresden.
