Limestone Holds Graduation Ceremony For Women's Lacrosse Seniors Traveling To National Tournament

Limestone College held a special graduation ceremony on Wednesday, May 9, for its eight seniors who are a part of the women’s lacrosse team traveling to Lakeland, FL, for this weekend’s NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament.

Limestone’s day campus graduations are scheduled for Thursday, May 10, but the College’s President, Dr. Darrell Parker, had the inspiration to hold the special commencement prior to the team’s departure.

Those graduating with Bachelor’s degrees were Isabella Rachel Conrad, Kate Dolinar, Jessica Elms, Anna O’Donnell, Kendra Sheppard, Shannon Sisk, Kirsten Terry, and Samantha Yurechuk.

The graduation involved the eight seniors, Dr. Parker, and Limestone Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Karen Gainey.

The ceremony was held on campus outside the Bob Campbell Field House at 12 noon. Following the abbreviated ceremony, the team loaded onto a chartered bus to travel to Lakeland to take on the Florida Institute of Technology on Friday. With a victory, the Saints will advance into the second round in Lakeland on Saturday. The national semifinals and finals will be held on campus at the University of Tampa next weekend.

Limestone is currently 17-2 overall and finished 9-0 in Conference Carolinas. The Saints earned a Conference Carolinas regular season title before clinching the Conference Carolinas Women's Lacrosse Championship by knocking off Belmont Abbey College 18-8 on Sunday, April 29.

Limestone last made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament back in 2014, falling in the first round.

After the ceremony and prior to the team’s departure on Wednesday, the graduates were congratulated by teammates, coaches, classmates, faculty and staff members, family, and friends.
