Women's Speaker Forum Scheduled At Limestone On March 28

In conjunction with Women’s History Month, Limestone College will host its inaugural Women’s Speaker Forum on Thursday, March 28, at the Stephenson Dining Hall Banquet Room.

The topic of the forum, which is scheduled from 2:30 p.m. until 4 p.m., will be the “Challenges of Women In Business.” The event is geared toward women in professional career roles. Admission is free. A pre-forum networking opportunity, including light refreshments, will take place at 2 p.m.

Speakers will provide advice, insight, and encouragement taken from their personal experiences as professional women navigating their respective fields of business.

To register in advance, visit www.limestone.edu/womensforum.

Dr. Theresa Coates, Associate Professor of Management at Limestone, is organizing the event.

“Women comprise 46 percent of the labor force, but on average they typically make $11,000 less than men – which amounts to about 80 cents for every dollar paid to men,” Coates said. “The forum we are hosting at Limestone tackles such issues, while also addressing things like the challenges of gaining promotions and balancing work and personal lives. The panel participants will discuss how they have overcome obstacles and advanced their careers. These women are making an impact on their communities.”

Panel participants will include Jordana Megonigal, CEO of Recon; Monita Dawkins, Gaffney City Council District 3; Pamela Melton Cazel, Executive Director of the Cherokee Historical and Preservation Society; and Dr. Janet Bartholow, Assistant Professor of Finance and Director of the Vera Jones Mitchell Finance Lab at Limestone.

Women's History Month is declared each March to highlight the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society.
