This program is designed for Criminal Justice students who have an interest in pursuing a career in supervisory and executive administrative roles in any one of a number of Criminal Justice professions.  Courses will introduce students to a variety of practice areas while honing the same skills and knowledge as the Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice but with an emphasis on leadership and administration for Criminal Justice agencies. Through additional courses in leadership and management, fiscal management, political science and government structure, public administration, and policy analysis, this concentration will emphasize foundational principles of effective leadership in public employment forums.  Students will gain skills and knowledge to evaluate challenging issues facing the modern criminal justice system and develop effective responses and solutions to those issues.  This program of study will provide a sound foundation for successful advancement to mid- and senior-level leadership roles.

Requirement Notes

  1. Total of 120 credit hours consisting of the following:
  2. All Limestone University required Competency & General Education courses (27 hours; 33 including the math and history requirements noted below)
  3. Mathematics for Business and Economics Course (MA115 will be accepted if taken prior to declaring major) to fulfill Competency and General Education requirements as well as major degree requirements (3 hours)
  4. Elementary Statistics Course to fulfill Criminal Justice major degree requirements (3 hours)
  5. United States History II Course to fulfill Competency and General Education requirements as well as major degree requirements (3 hours)
  6. The required Criminal Justice Major Core Courses* as noted below (34 hours)
  7. Criminal Justice Management Course (3 hours)
  8. Applied Constitutional Law Course (3 hours)
  9. Financial Forensics Course (3 hours)
  10. Additional upper-level (300 or 400 level) Criminal Justice Courses (6 hours)
  11. American National Government, State and Local Government, and Principles of Public
    Administration Courses (9 hours)
  12. Employment and Labor Law Course (3 hours)
  13. Principles of Management, Leadership in Organizations, and Performance Management
    Courses (9 hours)
  14. Macroeconomics, Financial Accounting, and Marketing courses (12 hours)
  15. Additional Criminal Justice or General Education Electives as needed (3 hours)

Students completing the degree plan as outlined will complete their degree with a minor in Marketing, and will have completed all prerequisites for consideration for the Limestone University Masters in Business Administration program.

Students enrolling in this program as freshmen with an SAT score of at least 1200 or ACT score of at least 26, and a high school GPA of at least 3.7 may be eligible to enroll in the Limestone Saint2 4+1 program to earn their Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in marketing, and Masters in Business Administration in 5 years. Transfer students or those who do not meet the above criteria for consideration as freshmen, but who have completed 70 hours of undergraduate work with at least a 3.5 GPA, may apply to the Limestone Saint2 Accelerated program to earn their Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in marketing, and Masters in Business Administration in 5 years.
