Limestone University celebrated academic excellence during its Spring Semester Academic Awards Ceremony, which took place on Monday, April 15, inside Fullerton Auditorium. This significant event showcased the hard work, dedication, and remarkable achievements of its students and faculty, underlining the University’s commitment to fostering an environment of academic distinction and recognition.

Limestone University’s Teacher Education Program has reached a partnership agreement to bring a Palmetto State Teachers Association student chapter to its campus in Gaffney.

Limestone University Professor of Business Finance Dr. Renee Dyer recently had her article “Women in Finance: Advice from Female Finance Executives” published in the “Applied Economics and Finance Journal.”

Limestone University’s Dr. Seth Taft has been selected as the guest conductor of the 2024 South Carolina Region 5 Senior Band.

Limestone University had a combined 340 students named to either the Dean’s List or the Honor Roll for the fall semester of 2023. A total of 201 students made the Dean’s List, while 139 made the Honor Roll.

Dr. Jaime Orejan, Limestone University Professor of Sport Business, recently presented at the Excellence In Sport Management Education Conference that took place in Montgomery, AL. The event was sponsored by the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA).

Rahul N. Mehra, M.D., was recently honored by the Tampa Bay Business & Wealth with the 2023 Philanthropist of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award for his service and commitment to rethinking the approach to mental health.

Limestone University has been recognized as a top school for online education in healthcare for 2024. The website EduMed.org ranked Limestone’s Online Master’s In Social Work (MSW) No. 7 nationally for online degrees and certificates in the healthcare field going into 2024.

Limestone faculty member Dr. Karl J. Trybus (left) receives the book "¡Vino! The History and Identity of Spanish Wine" from fellow faculty member Dr. Jane Watkins at the Limestone Library on Thursday, Sept. 28. Watkins donated the book to the Limestone Library in honor of Trybus, who authored the book. "¡Vino! The History and Identity of Spanish Wine" explores the history and identity of Spanish wine production from the mid-nineteenth century to today. Nineteenth-century infestations of oidium fungus and phylloxera aphids devastated French and Italian vineyards but didn’t extend to the Iberian Peninsula at first, giving Spanish vintners the opportunity to increase their international sales. Once French and Italian wineries rebounded, however, Spanish wine producers had to up their game. Spain could not produce only table wine; it needed a quality product to compete with the supposedly superior French wines. After the Spanish Civil War the totalitarian Franco regime turned its attention to Spain’s devastated agricultural sector, but the country’s wine industry did not rebound until well after World War II. In the postwar years, it rebranded itself to compete in a more integrated European and international marketplace with the creation of a new wine identity. As European integration continued, Spanish wine producers and the tourism industry worked together to promote the uniqueness of Spain and the quality of its wines. Trybus, a Limestone Professor of History and Department Chair of Humanities & Communication, explores the development of Spanish wine in the context of national and global events, tracing how the wine industry has fared and ultimately prospered despite civil war, regional concerns, foreign problems, and changing tastes. Trybus is also Limestone's Program Coordinator of History & History/Pre-Law.

Limestone University’s Master of Education in Teacher Leadership program was recently awarded a $1.4 million National Science Foundation grant for Teacher Leadership in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). It represents the largest academic grant that Limestone has received to date, the result of a year-long grant-writing process.

Limestone University Professor Dr. Karl J. Trybus recently presented at the Association for Spanish and Portuguese Historical Association Conference at the University of Colorado.

Limestone University had a combined 262 students named to either the Dean’s List or the Honor Roll for the spring semester of 2023. A total of 157 students made the Dean’s List, while 105 made the Honor Roll.

Recent Limestone University graduate and psychology major Hunter H. Moody presented a poster of his research titled “Paranormal Beliefs: Picture vs. Video Influences” during the 19th annual South Carolina Upstate Research Symposium held in March on the campus of USC Upstate in Spartanburg. In addition, Limestone Psychology professors Dr. Justin Bailey and Dr. Michelle Phillips-Meek presented their research titled “Political Affiliation And Attitudes Toward COVID-19 On A College Campus.”

Limestone University Professor of Physical Education Dr. Felicia Cavallini and alumna Abigail “Abi” Treadway had a research paper published recently in the Journal of Family Medicine and Disease Prevention.

Limestone University Professor Dr. Randy D. Nichols recently presented at the Popular Culture Association's 2023 National Conference in San Antonio.

Limestone University’s Dr. Samantha Weber, Assistant Professor of Athletic Training and Clinical Education Coordinator, recently had a paper published regarding a completed study that could lead to better health outcomes for student-athletes, both at Limestone and throughout the country.

The Limestone University Master of Business Administration program held its official hooding ceremony on Friday, May 6, inside the Hines & Riggins Center on campus. The graduation ceremony was held the following day.

The new degrees recently awarded from Limestone University will almost certainly mean successful career outcomes – in a short amount of time – for the recent graduates.
