Limestone University To Serve As Host Site For 2024 NCAA Div. II Field Hockey Championship

The NCAA announced on Wednesday, Oct. 14, that Limestone University, in partnership with OneSpartanburg, Inc., will serve as the host site for the 2024 Division II Field Hockey National Championship.

Two national semifinal games and the national title game will be played at Saints Field in 2024.

Spartanburg was awarded both the DII Field Hockey Championship and the DIII Men's and Women's Cross Country National Championships in 2024 and was selected to host the DII Men's and Women's Cross Country Southeast Regional. The cross country events will be held at the Roger Milliken Center.

The NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship will be held at Saints Field on November 22 and 24, 2024, bringing four teams to Limestone. Saints Field is an artificial turf playing surface that is home to five Limestone teams: field hockey, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's lacrosse. Saints Field, which is part of the Bob Prevatte Athletic Complex, can accommodate up to 500 fans.

We are excited to host a women's national championship, especially for one of the fastest growing sports across the nation and the world."

Limestone has hosted numerous conference tournaments and NCAA regionals events at Saints Field, including the NCAA semifinals in men's lacrosse in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019. The inaugural South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Field Hockey Championship was played at Saints Field in 2018.

OneSpartanburg, Inc., formerly known as the Spartanburg Convention & Visitors Bureau, submitted 33 bids to bring NCAA events to Spartanburg. The NCAA sifted through over 3,000 bids from cities across the nation to host 86 different championship events to be held between the years 2022 and 2025.

Bidding for the 86 of 90 NCAA championships began in August 2019, resulting in the largest host site announcement ever across a four-year cycle. Previously, selection announcement varied by sport. Each sport committee, per division, selected the host sites it believed would provide the ultimate experience for the respective student-athletes, resulting in more than 450 championship event sites being awarded.

More than 54,000 student-athletes across all three divisions compete in NCAA championships each year.
