Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce Honors Limestone Personnel During Awards Banquet

Limestone College's enthusiastic commitment to making a difference in the local community was on full display during the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce's 2011 Annual Meeting and Awards.

With South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley in attendance to serve as keynote speaker, recipients with Limestone ties were presented with the Chamber's Hall of Fame Award, Duke Energy's Citizenship and Service Award, Ambassador of the Year Award and the Chamber's President Award.

Before Dr. Griffin was called to the stage, a stirring video tribute  complete with personal testimonials from various people who have worked with him throughout the years, was played to the packed house. You can watch the video here . His Hall of Fame Award was given in recognition of his role in developing Limestone since becoming president of the college in 1992. Since then, Limestone has more than tripled its enrollment, acquired four new buildings and completed major historic preservation renovations on several other campus buildings. Griffin has seen to it that the College has operated with a balanced budget for 18 consecutive years. He has also spearheaded efforts in fostering positive relationships throughout the local community.

Citizenship & Service Award

Patton, President of Buford Street Drug Store & True Value Hardware in Gaffney, was presented with Duke Energy's Citizenship and Service Award for his well-known representation for going above and beyond the call of duty in helping others. Theo Lane, District Manager Government and Community Relations for Duke Energy, said "Charlie is consistently at the forefront of just about every community initiative; he not only participates, he eagerly provides his extensive leadership experience."

 

 

 

Teresa Bratt; Upstate Coordinator for Limestone's Extended Campus Ambassador of the Year
Bratt was honored for her outstanding contributions to the Chamber of Commerce over the past year. Bratt assisted in establishing the Ambassador program for the Chamber last year and has been an active participant and advocate for the group.
