Nice Guys Do Not Finish Last; Limestone Junior Selected for Prestigious Science Program

While many of his peers will be spending their summer days on wave-lapped beaches, Limestone College Cedric Williams '11 will be hard at work in the lab. And that's the way he wants it.

Williams, who majors in biology,  is one of only a handful of students from throughout the region selected to participate in the 24th Annual Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program which lasts from May through June at Winthrop University.

Limestone College will host a recital by renowned pianist Dr. Scott Price on Tuesday, February 23rd at 7:30 Carroll Recital Hall. Price serves at the University of South Carolina as Professor of Piano, coordinator of the university's Piano Pedagogy Program and Coordinator of Group Piano. The recital is free and open to the public.

As part of his recital, Price will perform selections from Frédéric Chopin and Robert Schumann in honor of the bicentennial birthdays of both composers who were born in 1810. He will also perform works by Chopin and Erik Satie.
Limestone Professor Receives Technology Grant from McGraw-Hill

Dr. Russ Meade, Business Law Preceptor at Limestone College, has received a Tegrity Grant from McGraw-Hill, publisher of college textbooks worldwide.

The Tegrity grant program is designed to help educators experience a new technology and to reveal its value for student learning through usage.

Meade will utilize the grant to produce video, audio and interactive web tools for use in his courses. Via state-of-the-art technology, he will broadcast his courses through streaming video to his students who can access them from any corner of the world. Students, in turn, will be able to broadcast their questions through video and audio, and receive immediate feedback.

Bern Nadette Stanis (Thelma of Good Times) to Highlight Cultural Extravaganza at Limestone

Bern Nadette Stanis, perhaps best known as Thelma on the wildly popular television series Good Times, will highlight the Cultural Extravaganza program at Limestone College on Sunday, February 28 in Fullerton Auditorium. The event, which is free and open to the public, will run from 4-6 p.m. It is sponsored by the Cherokee County Branch of the NAACP, Communities in Schools and the Lambda Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.

During her appearance, Stanis will speak about the culture and social consciousness of Good Times and its relevance in the African American community.
