Limestone Alumna Named “Teacher of the Year” for Charter School

Limestone College alumna Tomikia Whitmire has been named Teacher of the Year for Spartanburg Charter School.

A mathematics instructor for fourth and fifth graders, she is the first person to be selected for the recognition at the school, which opened its doors in 2009.

Is there truth to the bond between twins?

Researchers seeking the answer to that question would do well to visit Limestone College as no less than seven sets of twins were enrolled during the 2009-2010 academic year.

Unlike single-born children, most twins seem to share a unique connection that is deep and self-sustaining. "The twin bond is important since it's a relationship that really started in utero," says Eileen Pearlman, a licensed marriage, family, and child therapist who lectures on multiple birth issues and is the author of Raising Twins: What Parents Want to Know (And What Twins Want to Tell Them). "Even in the womb, there was a lot of working together sharing a very small space."

Dr. Griffin Throws the Heat With Opening Pitch

DSC_0286July 8 was Limestone College Night as the Forest City Owls hosted the Asheboro Copperheads for a baseball match-up in Coastal Plain League action.

Daniel Smith, a rising senior and music major from Spartanburg, performed the National Anthem and Limestone President Dr. Walt Griffin threw the opening pitch.
