262,000 and Counting

Stop Hunger Now Web"262,000 and counting" is the motto for this year's hunger relief effort.

The Limestone College project began two years ago when students put together 62,034 packages of rice, vegetables, and vitamins to provide nutritious meal ingredients for the Stop Hunger Now international hunger relief organization.

Last year, students packaged over 102,000.
Students will assemble the packages in Timken Gym in a kickoff event Monday, August 19th for the college's third year of Limestone CARES community service group. The food packages will be distributed by the Stop Hunger Now hunger relief organization, which provides food assistance programs at schools and orphanages in developing countries around the world.

In addition, Limestone College will send teams of students into the community to help with service projects that same week. Students will be seen in Cherokee County schools helping with landscaping and minor renovations as well as volunteering with local nonprofit organizations.
