Theatre Programs & Degrees

At Limestone College, students receive education and training in performance and technical theatre as well as musical theatre. Students who are interested in theatre may choose the Theatre Major, Musical Theatre Major, English/Theatre Major, or a Theatre Minor. Students who complete the Theatre Major and Musical Theatre Major are well prepared for both the professional theatre and graduate school.   In addition, the English/Theatre Major prepares students for work in fields such as communications, publishing, marketing, and non-profit organizations.

Areas of study in the Theatre Department include acting, directing, playwriting, theatre history, dramatic literature, dramatic criticism, dramaturgy, design (set, costume, and lighting), and performance studies and musical theatre.

Mainstage productions include plays from a wide variety of dramatic genres and historical periods. The Theatre Department and Music Department join to produce musical theatre productions in Fullerton Auditorium, a beautiful performance facility for 975 audience members.  Guest artists participate in Limestone productions and lead workshops in acting, directing, and design.

In addition, the theatre program offers small class sizes that facilitate individualized attention and collaboration with faculty.

Limestone's student/teacher ratio of 10.5:1 allows students a unique flexibility in pursuing their specific interests.   So whether your place is the star of the show or the star of the stage design, you will find the Limestone faculty is dedicated to making your dreams come true!
