Human Resources Management - Business partners selecting right candidate for their new project

Human Resource Management

Bachelor of Science (B.S.)

In the Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management program, students learn to manage the development of employees in organizations and to provide related services to individuals and groups. Students study personnel and organizational policy, human resource dynamics and flows, labor relations, gender roles, civil rights, and human resources laws and regulations. Students also learn about motivation and compensation systems, career management, employee testing and assessment, recruitment and selection, job training programs, and the management of human resources programs and operations. An internship may increase your chances of finding a job in this field.

The Human Resource Management major prepares students for the complex nature of human resources. Our curriculum exposes students to all areas of Human Resources and is aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) curriculum guidelines to prepare students to take the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP®) Certification exam.

As the program is academically aligned with SHRM, students in their final year will have eligibility to register for the SHRM-Certified Professional Examinations.

HR Training & Development Concentration and Minor in Business Administration

Students in the B.S. in Human Resource Management degree program may also earn an optional concentration in Human Resource Training and Development that helps prepare students to help improve the effectiveness of organizations by developing employees’ knowledge, skills, abilities, and performance. In addition, completing the major in Human Resource Management with a concentration in HR Training & Development also satisfies the requirements to receive a minor in Business Administration.

Human Resource Management Online Degree Program

The Human Resource Management degree program is available online. Online programs have the same content and curriculum as traditional on-campus programs. All coursework, including lectures, assignments, and exams, is available through the Canvas online learning system.

Online programs are asynchronous, which means there are no specific times you must be online. Professors and other instructors are available during virtual “office hours” for discussion. The programs are designed to allow you to focus on two courses in eight-week terms.
