Limestone is an accredited, independent, coeducational, four-year liberal arts institution and a Christian, non-denominational college. Our programs lead to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Social Work, Associate of Arts, or Associate of Science degree. When Limestone was established in 1845, it was the first women’s college in South Carolina and one of the very first in the United States. It wasn’t until the late 1960s that Limestone became fully coeducational. Today, Limestone enrolls 750 traditional day students on our main campus and 2,800 Extended Campus students at 8 sites in South Carolina and on the Internet. Our total enrollment is around 3,500. The day students on our campus enjoy a small, friendly, caring campus where they’re known as individuals, not as numbers. They’re challenged by well-educated and dedicated faculty, who genuinely care for the individual student. Day students also participate in a wide variety of clubs, organizations, and 20 NCAA Division II athletic teams. Our Extended Campus students are part of one of the first and most successful programs designed specifically to enable working adults to complete a baccalaureate degree. Our program attracts hardworking, goal-oriented men and women who aspire to attain their degrees to increase opportunities for personal growth and career advancement. Today, Limestone is truly a “statewide” college with 2/3 of our students taking classes at Extended Campus sites throughout South Carolina and around the world via the Internet. Our Internet program, begun in 1997, is one of the fastest growing programs of its kind anywhere in the United States. Limestone’s main campus is located in Gaffney, South Carolina, in the Piedmont region – known for its diversified industrial, commercial, and agricultural interests. Gaffney is a small city with a population of only 25,000. The Limestone campus is located in a historic residential section of Gaffney. And nine of our campus buildings are located on the National Register of Historic Places. Nestled among gently rolling hills, Gaffney enjoys a mild climate that permits a variety of outdoor activities throughout the year. The metropolitan areas of both Charlotte, North Carolina and Greenville/Spartanburg, South Carolina are within an hour’s drive. Resort areas of the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky Mountains are less than an hour away, and Myrtle Beach, Charleston, and other coastal resorts are easily accessible for weekend visits. It is my pleasure to welcome you to Limestone College. After you explore our website, I hope you’ll have the opportunity to make a personal visit to our campus and discover why Limestone is such a special place. Thank you for your interest in Limestone College. Sincerely, Dr. Walt Griffin Administrative Officers of Limestone College Dr. Walt Griffin, President |
