It was announced earlier this week that former Limestone University basketball player Charles Blue has been named as the new head coach for the boys' basketball team at Gaffney High School.

Blue played four years at Limestone and also served a stint as a graduate assistant. His final season on the hardwood for the Saints was 2012-2013. He was a Computer Science major at Limestone.

A native of Corpus Christi, TX, Blue played his high school hoops at Mount Zion Academy. He also played football, baseball, and soccer in high school. On the court, he was a three-time Most Valuable Player for Mount Zion.

Blue comes to Gaffney by way of Dorman High, where he has served as head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity coach for the past two seasons. He spent six years at the helm of the boys' program at Spartanburg Day School before moving on to Dorman.

He is in his fourth year as development specialist at Upward Sports in Spartanburg.

Blue replaces Phillip McHam at GHS, who stepped down in March. McHam was hired in 2018 to replace legendary coach Mark Huff. He captured a region crown and led the Indians to three playoff appearances.
