Fresh off a Final Four run this past March, the Gamecocks will have some Saints marching into the Colonial Life Area for an exhibition game on Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Limestone College head men's basketball coach Brandon Scott announced today that his team has signed on to play the University of South Carolina in the exhibition contest in Columbia.

"We are so excited for the chance to compete against the University of South Carolina," Scott said. "I am so appreciative to Coach Frank Martin and the Gamecocks for blessing us with this incredible opportunity.

“We have experienced so many special moments the last 10 years, so being able to compete against one of the best coaches and programs in the country will be a moment that we will value and cherish for a very long time,” he added.

South Carolina recorded a program-record 26 wins last season and advanced into the NCAA Final Four before falling to Gonzaga with a trip to the Division I National Championship game on the line.

For the Saints, the 2016-17 campaign was one that included many firsts for the program. Limestone posted an overall record of 27-6, while going 17-3 in Conference Carolinas play. The Saints swept the conference regular season and tournament title for the first time in program history.

Limestone earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Tournament where the Saints faced the University of North Carolina Pembroke in the first round. Limestone defeated the Braves 100-85, to earn a trip to the second round, which had not been accomplished by the Saints in their previous three NCAA appearances. Limestone narrowly fell to No.15-ranked Lincoln Memorial University, 70-64, to close the record-breaking season.

The start time for the exhibition game on Dec. 27 has yet to be determined.
