Dr. Fred Lux has been named Limestone University’s recipient of the 2025 South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (SCICU) Excellence in Teaching Award.
Lux, an assistant professor of criminal justice, was among 21 faculty members recognized during SCICU’s annual awards dinner held April 22 in Columbia. Each year, one professor from each of SCICU’s member institutions is selected for their commitment to undergraduate teaching, mentorship, and student success.
Honorees receive a $3,000 professional development grant to support continued growth as educators and academic leaders.
“Faculty are at the heart of student achievement,” said SCICU President and CEO Robert Lloyd. “We are honored to shine a spotlight on these educators who go above and beyond to prepare and inspire South Carolina’s next generation of leaders.”
Lux was also the program coordinator for Limestone’s criminal justice program.
He received bachelor's degrees in criminal justice and experimental psychology from the University of South Carolina Upstate, a master's in criminal justice from Anderson University, and a doctorate in criminal justice from Saint Leo University.
