Limestone Represented At CIC Consortium Workshop In Washington, DC

A Limestone College Associate Professor and the Library Director were recently invited to present at a Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) Consortium Workshop in Washington, DC.

Lizah Ismail, Director of the Library, and Dr. Justin Bailey, Associate Professor and Chair of the Psychology Department, spoke at the CIC Consortium on Digital Resources for Teaching and Research Workshop over a three-day period in early September.

The goal of the Consortium was to use an open access digital platform (known as Shared Shelf) for showcasing collections that can improve teaching and learning, enhance faculty and student/faculty research, and streamline administrative capabilities through a uniform and cost-effective system.

Ismail and Bailey presented on the status of Limestone’s digital collections showcasing the research and other academic works of students and faculty.

In May 2015, Limestone became one of 42 academic institutions nation-wide to have been accepted into the Consortium.

“The Consortium and the Shared Shelf digital platform provides the opportunity for students and faculty to share their works beyond our Limestone campus in an online environment,” Ismail said.

The Consortium receives funding support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the endorsement of the Council of Independent Colleges.
