A recent gift from a local couple has endowed a scholarship that will benefit deserving Limestone University students for years to come.

The Mayor Dr. Randy and Dr. Ana Moss Endowed Scholarship has been established at Limestone, and Cherokee County students who are pursuing a career in the medical profession will be eligible for scholarship consideration.

Dr. Randy Moss, born and raised in Gaffney, is now serving as Mayor of Gaffney. Dr. Randy and Dr. Ana Moss have both received degrees in Pharmacy and Medicine. They continue to train worldwide in medicine and business, including postgraduate education and training at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. Together, they continue to train in cutting-edge medicine with top scientists and medical leaders at the national and international level.

The couple will fund the new scholarship, in part, using the proceeds from Dr. Randy Moss’ salary as the Mayor of Gaffney and from the Moss Medical Institute.

Dr. Ana Moss, a member of the Limestone Board of Trustees since 2019, is the Chief Executive Officer for Moss Medical Institute and Spa with locations in Gaffney, Columbia, Newberry, and Greenville. For over eight years, she has been the creator and founder of Argan Skin Care products.

Together, Dr. Randy Moss and Dr. Ana Moss have been supporting Lifetime Scholarships at the University of South Carolina, while also supporting local high school and community college students.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to offer this Limestone University scholarship to local students who have a desire to enter the healthcare field,” Dr. Randy Moss said. “Along with my wife, it is our hope that the establishment of this scholarship will encourage others to support Limestone as well. We invite local citizens to engage in supporting our local students and to give back to Limestone University, which is a true jewel for our community.

“As citizens and leaders, we must support higher education to help local talented students to pursue their dreams,” he continued. “Education and hard work have opened many doors for both me and my wife. We want to help and give back.”

The gift of an endowed scholarship provides Limestone with a perpetual asset from which students can receive support. An endowed scholarship is a permanent fund in which the principal always remains intact and invested. Scholarships are awarded from the allocated income earned on the principal investment. The Mayor Dr. Randy and Dr. Ana Moss Scholarship will be awarded to a worthy and qualified local student according to Limestone’s financial aid policies and approval of the Limestone University scholarship committee.
