Limestone's Carolyn Ford To Give Artist Talks At Spartanburg Community College Exhibition

Limestone University Professor of Art Carolyn Ford will be giving two artist talks on her exhibition “Speak My Language” at Spartanburg Community College on September 15 at 2 p.m. and on September 16 at 10 a.m.

The exhibition features 22 pieces that will be on display until December 1.

“‘Speak My Language’ focuses on colloquialisms from the south,” Ford explained. “Fascinated by slang, idioms, and overly wordy descriptions, these ceramic disks and plates illustrate some of my favorite sayings. I would like to thank Ashley Holt and the Spartanburg Community College library staff for inviting me to exhibit and speak about my work. During times like this, we need a bit of humor. Many of these old phrases are intended to give the viewer a much-needed chuckle.”

Ford has been a faculty member at Limestone since 2003 and has been serving as Department Chair since 2010. Her work is featured in the permanent collection of the Asheville Art Museum. Her work can also be found at www.carolynfordart.com.
