Limestone University is introducing a new Bachelor of Applied Science program that will help more transfer students than ever before to affordably earn a four-year degree and advance their careers.

The Bachelor of Applied Science program at Limestone – which will include two different degree offerings – is intended to serve the needs of those students who have completed an associate of applied science degree program through a community college and need additional education to enhance their career trajectory. Credits in the Bachelor of Applied Science program can be earned through online or in-person courses, providing the flexibility that is a staple of Limestone’s degree programs.

Beginning in January, Limestone will begin offering a Bachelor of Applied Science in both Business Administration and Professional Studies. The University will be the first in South Carolina to offer the Bachelor of Applied Science in Professional Studies and will be one of only two offering the Bachelor of Applied Science in Business Administration.

With this new program, a student with an Associate of Applied Science degree from a community or technical college can enter either of the two distinct bachelor degree completion programs that will accept up to 66 credit hours toward a four-year degree.

“Our new Bachelor of Applied Science program will be transformative for community college students who want the flexibility that a four-year degree provides,” said Limestone President Dr. Darrell Parker. “We are tremendously excited about expanding our pathways to degree completion and to career enhancements. This also reinforces our strong belief in the value that community colleges provide to their students.”

The Bachelor of Applied Science in Business Administration is ideal for transfer students who want to expand their knowledge in business from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs. The degree is ideal for students looking to advance their careers, start their own business, or complete a four-year degree in order to pursue a Master of Business Administration.

The Bachelor of Applied Science in Professional Studies is designed for the transfer student who is looking to take courses in an academic area of interest to complement the content area from their Associate of Applied Science degree program. Students can select from a variety of programs such as computer science, criminal justice, educational studies, English, healthcare administration, literacy, sport management, and more. This program is perfect for students also seeking to advance their careers or to expand their knowledge in another field.

“By offering the new Bachelor of Applied Science program, we are meeting the needs of even more community college transfer students, as well as the needs of working adults who want to further their education online,” said Dr. Pamela Wash, Limestone’s Associate Provost for Online & Graduate Programs. “For many working adults, they might have taken a two-year degree path to immediate job placement and are now seeking an advanced credential for career growth. With some two-year degree programs, credit hour transfer can be minimum – resulting in maybe only one-year of credits toward completion. These are students who succeeded in the classroom and entered a career – a true profile of success. With these new programs at Limestone, they are being rewarded for all that hard work by getting that four-year degree faster than they ever could before. And a faster degree path means a substantial savings for our students.”

Wash added that affordable tuition rates and financial aid options are available.
