Limestone University Announces A New Homecoming Court

Homecoming Crown

Limestone students are placing their votes this week for Homecoming Royalty, a remix to the traditional Homecoming Court process.

Traditionally, Homecoming Court members compete for the title of Homecoming King and Queen. Now, Homecoming Court members are competing for the title of Homecoming Royalty. Dropping the "King" and "Queen" titles from Homecoming allows for Limestone students to vote for the court member who they believe truly embodies what it means to be a Limestone Saint without the pressure of choosing a candidate from each gender. An additional title, "Homecoming Regal," has now been added to replace the classic runner-up titles of "Prince" and "Princess."

The Homecoming Court will be presented at halftime of Limestone’s football game that will be held on campus against UVA Wise on Saturday, Sept. 24. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Homecoming Court was determined by student votes and the candidates’ involvement during Homecoming Week. The top two candidates will receive the title of Homecoming Royalty, while the third and fourth candidates will be Homecoming Regal.

In addition to these title changes, a philanthropic component has also been added this year. Homecoming Court members have been raising donations for the Limestone University Saints Stop. Saints Stop was created to alleviate food insecurity and hunger by providing necessities to Limestone students who find themselves in emergency need. The Court member who raises the most donations will receive the 2022 Philanthropy award.  Anyone who would like to be a part of this initiative by donating items in honor of a Homecoming Court member or wants to learn more on how to be involved with Saints Stop, contact the Student Success Office at success@limestone.edu
