Limestone Art Gallery Welcomes “Garden Party” Exhibit Now On Display

The Limestone University Art Gallery has announced its latest exhibition, “Garden Party,” from artist Mike May. The exhibit is now on display and will run until November 16 in The Gallery located in the Hines & Riggins Center. The University will host a reception and artist talk on Thursday, Nov. 9, at 6 p.m., and light refreshments will be served in the Hines & Riggins Center lobby. There is no admission cost to visit the “Garden Party” exhibit at The Gallery, and the artist reception is also open to the public at no charge. “Garden Party” is a series of drawings and paintings that chronicle the career of a powerful individual who ultimately uses their authority for good. It uses cultural symbols, garden imagery, and traditional narrative devices to share the story in three acts, each corresponding to seasonal changes and the development of the character. May received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Ball State University. Upon graduation, he held several jobs in a direct care capacity, working with children with special needs, young adults with criminal records, and adults with mental illnesses, while continuing his drawing, painting, and exhibiting of creative work. He received his Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Miami University (Ohio). Currently, May is an Assistant Professor of Drawing and Painting at Furman University.
