Gold & Blue Promise Could Make Transferring To Limestone Tuition Free

Limestone College has launched a novel new program – the “Gold & Blue Promise” – that makes it possible for qualifying transfer students to realize their dreams of earning a four-year degree tuition free.

Transfer students with a grade point average of 3.6 or higher will now automatically qualify for Limestone’s $12,500 “Gold & Blue Promise” scholarship, regardless of family income level. From there, Limestone will combine all sources of scholarship and grant awards to count toward covering the student’s cost of tuition.

Under the new program for students attending Limestone's Day Campus in Gaffney, deeply discounted tuition is also available on a sliding scale for transfer students with a grade point of at least 3.0.

“Limestone understands the value of investing in local students by making a four-year degree affordable and attainable,” said Limestone College President Dr. Darrell Parker. “Our new initiative will eliminate the financial barriers facing some students and allow them to remain in our community as they earn their bachelor’s degrees.”

For two-year college transfer students who aspire to earn a four-year degree, the plan expands Limestone’s tuition assistance to make it as affordable as possible. In some cases, especially for area students who will commute to campus, they could finish their degrees with Limestone at very little costs.

“With our ‘Gold & Blue Promise,’ we are striving to be the most affordable option for commuting transfer students from two-year schools such as Spartanburg Community College and Spartanburg Methodist College,” Parker noted. “We are taking a lead role in ensuring students can achieve their goal of obtaining an undergraduate college degree. In addition to removing financial obstacles, we are committed to providing our students with the resources necessary to make sure they graduate.”

Students who receive the “Gold & Blue Promise” scholarship and qualify for the South Carolina LIFE Scholarship, South Carolina Tuition Grant, and the maximum Federal Pell Grant, can have their tuition covered in full with no out-of-pocket costs – exclusive of fees, books, and excluding room and board for students who wish to reside in campus housing.

South Carolina Residents can qualify for up to $3,500 from the S.C. Tuition Grant, which assists those eligible South Carolinians who prefer to attend one of South Carolina’s participating independent colleges. The S.C. LIFE Scholarship can provide up to $5,000 for qualifying students. In addition, the Pell Grant can deliver up to $6,195 for those who qualify.

Limestone’s Financial Aid office can also assist with information regarding student loans and payment plans to spread the costs over several months.
