Limestone College Professor of Physical Education Dr. Felicia Cavallini will present research at the upcoming South Carolina Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance Conference scheduled for November 15-17 in Myrtle Beach.

In addition, several of Limestone’s Physical Education-Teacher Education students will also attend the conference.

Cavallini will present during a "Research Share Out" session that will bring together research professors from around the state who share their current research as it relates to physical activity, Physical Education curriculums, and Physical Education teachers.

She will be sharing her latest research from South Carolina and Canada on the influences of adults' preferences for physical activity on the youth. She will answer the following questions: “How do adults’ preferences for lifestyle physical activity influence the whole school environment including the surrounding community?” and “How do what adults think about accomplishing the United States recommended physical activity guidelines affect and inspire PE teachers' curriculum and how they teach in the classroom?”

Those influences and recommended intervention strategies will be explained during Cavallini’s presentation, which will also include the introduction of her “MyElementary Activity” and “MySecondary Activity” programs.

Cavallini was awarded the prestigious, internationally distinguished Fulbright U.S. Scholar Grant for 2014-2015 as a Visiting Research Chair in the Human Health and Nutritional Sciences Department at the University of Guelph. She taught and conducted research in collaboration with the faculty and serves as an ambassador to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and Canada.
