Limestone Social Work Represented At S.C. State House "Legislative Day"
Limestone College was recently represented by its Social Work program at the National Association of Social Workers-South Carolina Chapter (NASW-SC) "Legislative Day" at the State House in Columbia.
The College was one of two institutions that hosted a panel for the event held on February 26.
Limestone Social Work Preceptor Dr. Aubrey L. Sejuit served as moderator on the Mental Illness panel that consisted of Clinical Director of Columbia’s Mental Illness Recovery Center (MIRCI) Frances Pope Hewitt, MIRCI’s Marketing Director Merrell Johnson, and attorney/ lobbyist Ed Schafer.
Students from Limestone’s Online & Evening Program attended the event and supported NASW-SC efforts to further advocacy of the social work field while hearing from politicians and learning about legislation.
NASW-SC is a membership organization of professional social workers that works to enhance the professional growth and development of its members. The organization also helps shape legislation that affects the health, welfare, and education of all people.
