Limestone Combines Open House & Research Symposium

Limestone College’s annual Open House and Research Symposium are being combined to create a brand new event, “LimestONE Nation Day,” which is coming up on campus on Friday, Nov. 30.

The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. with check-in at Fullerton Auditorium where attendees will receive their free t-shirts and agendas for the day.

Limestone President Dr. Darrell Parker will then kick-off the Academic Showcase with a formal welcome. Prospective students will be able to experience what it is like to be a Limestone Saint by interacting with professors and current students.

Following a complimentary lunch, a Student Life Showcase will be held where attendees will be able to get a personal look at what it is like to reside on the Limestone campus. Attendees will then have the opportunity to learn about scholarships, student opportunities and support, and athletics.

At 2 p.m., an optional campus tour will be led by Student Ambassadors, and a residence hall tour will be given by Student Ambassadors.

Prospective students and their families are encouraged to attend the various Student Research Symposiums throughout the day. If anyone is unable to attend the Research Symposium presentations, they will be available online at http://libguides.limestone.edu/studentsymposium.

According to Lizah Ismail, the Director of the Library, one of the goals of the symposium is to allow the opportunity for students to share, discuss, and interact with their peers as well as with the Limestone community regarding their research or creative work. Other goals include encouraging inter-disciplinary collaborations, providing a venue where quality works can be seen as examples to be modeled after by students the following year, and offering a convenient platform for students to experience presenting beyond the classroom.

Visiting Limestone’s campus has always been one of the best ways to gain valuable insight into the unique advantages of the College. Limestone welcomes the opportunity to meet prospective and new students in person, tour them and their family members around campus, and introduce them to faculty and staff in an effort to ensure their future success at the College.

By combining these two events, Limestone is able to even more efficiently share its campus and student life with those looking to attend the College in the future.
