Limestone Art Professor Carolyn Ford Selected To Take Part In N.C. Exhibition

Limestone College Professor of Art Carolyn Ford has been selected to be a part of the upcoming Art/RE/Art exhibition and event in Morganton, NC.

The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.

ART/RE/ART is a series of one-night-only, contemporary art experiences taking place in downtown Morganton. The free events, held in non-art spaces, offer an alternative way to interact with and experience art in the community. Featuring local and regional artists, ART/RE/ART includes work from multiple disciplines and mediums including performance, installation, sculpture, interactive, video, painting, drawing, and photography.

“I would like to thank Nancy VanNoppen and Kayla Oelhafen for the opportunity to participate in his exhibit,” Ford said. “Finding unique events such as this will allow my students to see how to facilitate art installations in alternative spaces. I will be encouraging my students to apply to exhibits as part of their course criteria so they can practice professionalism in their field.

“Art is also about making connections with the community,” she added. “With Limestone moving to University status next year, our exposure becomes even more important. Professional development in the Art Department is unique. Research varies per field. As a studio artist, research is creating art, while presentations and publications come in the form of exhibitions, collections, and image publications.”

The Chair of the College’s Art Department, Ford has been at Limestone since 2003. She is an active artist working primarily in ceramics and drawing.

Ford earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Middle Tennessee State and she also studied abroad in Italy. She received her Master’s degree from Washington State University in Pullman, WA.
