The following is a summary of the Limestone College Presidential Search Committee meeting held on Tuesday, September 19, 2017:

The Presidential Search Committee previewed the confidential website developed by AGB Search that accommodates the information on the candidates who have completed their applications to become the next President of Limestone College.

Potential candidates for the position of President have until October 15, 2017, to apply. 

Wednesday, September 20, 2017 - 9:30am

Ragtime, jazz, and silent film pianist Ethan Uslan will perform in concert at Limestone College on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Fullerton Auditorium.

Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

During his performance in Gaffney, Uslan will also provide the music for the 20-minute Charlie Chaplin silent film “East Street.”

Limestone College’s Department of Music will embark on an eight-day choral concert tour of Germany in May of 2018, and there are still opportunities for friends of the College to travel along.

The tour is part of Limestone’s extensive program of celebrations over the next nine months to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Protestant Reformation.

The trip, being organized by Varna International, will take place May 13-20, 2018, with stops in Berlin, Wittenberg, Leipzig, Erfurt, Eisenach, and Dresden.

Limestone College has announced an extensive program of celebrations in the coming months to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Protestant Reformation.

It has been 500 years since Martin Luther set the Reformation in motion by nailing his 95 Theses to the door of the Wittenberg Church in Germany on October 31, 1517.

Limestone College’s Dr. Felicia Cavallini, Professor of Physical Education, is part of a research team that had a manuscript recently published by the Journal of Physical Activity Research.

The research, peer-reviewed article, published earlier this month, is entitled “Introducing MyHouse Activity and MyWork Activity: A Paradigm Shift Towards Lifestyle Physical Activity Supported by Evidence from a Focus Group Study.”

Longtime Gaffney physician and Limestone College benefactor and friend Dr. Preston Edwards touched the lives of countless Cherokee County residents in a life devoted to service.

Edwards, 94, died Sept. 15, just three days short of his 95th birthday.

Come out to Limestone College’s home football game against Tusculum this Saturday night and you just might find yourself on one of ESPN’s networks!

The Saints host Tusculum College at 7 p.m. at Gaffney High School’s “Reservation” stadium, and the game will be shown internationally on ESPN3.

Limestone is 1-1 overall after going into overtime last week to defeat Benedict 20-17. Tusculum also enters this weekend’s contest 1-1 overall with a 34-33 loss to North Greenville and a 39-12 victory over Shorter.

Fresh off a Final Four run this past March, the Gamecocks will have some Saints marching into the Colonial Life Area for an exhibition game on Wednesday, Dec. 27.

Limestone College head men's basketball coach Brandon Scott announced today that his team has signed on to play the University of South Carolina in the exhibition contest in Columbia. 

"We are so excited for the chance to compete against the University of South Carolina," Scott said. "I am so appreciative to Coach Frank Martin and the Gamecocks for blessing us with this incredible opportunity.

Several Limestone College students and a faculty member played a large part in the recent summer production of “Xanadu” produced by the Spartanburg Little Theatre at the Chapman Cultural Center.

“Xanadu,” which was performed July 14-23 at the Chapman Cultural Center in Spartanburg, is a musical that follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse who descends from the heavens of Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, CA. It is based on the 1980 movie starring Olivia Newton-John.

Limestone College’s Director of the Library Lizah Ismail and Associate Professor of Psychology Dr. Justin Bailey attended the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) Consortium on Digital Resources for Teaching and Research Workshop in Washington, DC, September 7-9.

Ismail and Bailey participated in a poster presentation entitled “Student Agency and Voice.” The session was part of the workshop’s focus on teaching and learning with digital collections. Ismail and Bailey presented on the progress Limestone has made with its Undergraduate Student Collections in Shared Shelf.
