Athletics Hall of Fame 2020

The Limestone College Athletics Department is proud to announce the 2020 Hall of Fame Class, a group of three individuals, one team, and a special inductee who have all left their mark on their respective programs while setting the standard of success the department has recently enjoyed.

The 24th Hall of Fame class will include athletes Ryan Lanigan '00 (men's lacrosse), Rick Matthews '00 (men's lacrosse), Melissa Thomas Baker '10 (women's volleyball), and the 2011 women's lacrosse team, along with special inductee Tommy Martin (media and Limestone Board of Trustee member).

Limestone has changed lives, influenced our community, and impacted our nation. Our “Pave The Way” initiative provides an opportunity to leave a lasting impression on the place that has left its mark on so many.

Limestone’s new library and student center building is the perfect location to have a piece of your history memorialized. Construction on the new facility is now underway, with an anticipated completion date of May 2021.

The ceremonial shovels are standing ready as Limestone College prepares for yet another monumental event on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m., when a groundbreaking ceremony will be held for the institution’s new multi-million-dollar library and student center. 

The dual-purpose building is being made possible as part of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Program. Limestone’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously in September of 2018 to accept the terms of the loan as part of an overall $42.5 million project for the College.

In observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, Limestone College will hold its inaugural “Day of Service” on Monday, Jan. 20.

As part of that day, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., Limestone’s campus community will come together to package 50,000 meals for "Rise Against Hunger," which is an international hunger relief organization that distributes food and life-changing aid to those in need across the world.

Come join Limestone for a "day on, not a day off."

Although her thumbs are still numb from the experience, Limestone College Professor of Art Carolyn Ford said she had a blast last month as a guest artist at Mission Clay Art and Industry in Phoenix.

Thanks to a special invitation, Ford was able to carve her "Southernisms" series on monumental extruded ceramic pipes and that work will now become part of Mission's permanent art collection.

Limestone College Professor of Physical Education, and a recipient of a Fulbright Scholar Grant, Dr. Felicia Cavallini, will have a research study article published an upcoming issue of Strategies, which is a major academic journal for the Society of Health and Physical Educators Americas (SHAPE).

Limestone College Assistant Professor of English and Spanish Dr. Jack Knipe, along with his research partners, recently had research published in a recent edition of FIRE: Forum for International Research in Education.

FIRE is an international, peer-reviewed publication promoting interdisciplinary scholarship on the use of internationally comparative data for evidence-based and innovative change in educational systems, schools, and classrooms worldwide.

In observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, Limestone College will hold its inaugural “Day of Service” on Monday, Jan. 20.

In addition, Limestone will host its 17th-annual Martin Luther King, Jr. lecture on Monday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m., inside Fullerton Auditorium. The featured guest speaker for the “Stop The Hate – Choose Love” program will be Reverend Sharon Risher, the daughter of Ethel Lance, who was killed in 2015 in the Emanuel AME Church shooting in Charleston. More information regarding Risher’s appearance at Limestone next month will be announced soon.
