Limestone College Professor of Art Carolyn Ford has been invited as a guest artist at Mission Clay Art and Industry in Phoenix.

Ford will be spending a week as a visiting artist in Arizona. While there, she will be carving her "Southernisms" series on monumental extruded ceramic pipes. In exchange for the week of creation, her work will become part of Mission's permanent art collection.

International Education Week

Limestone College will soon commemorate International Education Week with multiple events that will provide opportunities to celebrate culture, diversity, and all the benefits of international education and exchange across the world.

The goal of the many festivities planned for November 18-22 is to promote communication between different cultures at the College and to help develop global-ready Limestone graduates. The activities are being sponsored by Limestone’s International Club.

Limestone currently has 94 international students on its Day Campus in Gaffney.

Cavallini 2019

Limestone College Professor of Physical Education Dr. Felicia Cavallini will present research at the upcoming South Carolina Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance Conference scheduled for November 15-17 in Myrtle Beach.

In addition, several of Limestone’s Physical Education-Teacher Education students will also attend the conference.

Wednesday, November 13, 2019 - 11:00am

The Limestone College & Community Chorus will help set the holiday season in motion as it performs “Holy Silence, Holy Sound” at Fullerton Auditorium on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m.

Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

The 18-member chorus – conducted by Dr. Gena Poovey, Professor of Choral/Vocal Music Education and Director of Choral Activities at Limestone – includes 10 students from the College and eight members of the local community. Accompanist will be Limestone Professor of Music Dr. David Thompson.

Clary Family Check Presentation

The Clary family, with a well-known rich tradition of pigskin prowess in Cherokee County and across the state, recently made a generous donation to Limestone College as part of its efforts to acquire the naming rights to the institution’s football practice field.

The $100,000 fund-raising effort has been underway for five years, and the latest contribution got the project very close to the finish line. The check was recently presented to Limestone by Broughton Clary, who was accompanied by his son, Chip.

Limestone College Professor of Art Carolyn Ford will have her artwork featured in the inaugural exhibit “Appalachia Now! An Interdisciplinary Survey of Contemporary Art in Southern Appalachia” for the new Asheville Art Museum opening later this month.

“Appalachia Now!” will be the first exhibition in the new museum that opens on Thursday, Nov. 14. The exhibition provides a regional snapshot of the art of the 21st century – a collective survey of contemporary Southern Appalachian culture.

The Limestone College Department of Music will host its Chamber Music Concert on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 p.m., inside Fullerton Auditorium.

Admission into the concert is free and the public is invited to attend.

The College’s Woodwind Ensemble will be conducted by Professor of Music Dr. Chip Hill, while the Percussion Ensemble will be conducted by Professor Gary Robinson, and the Vocal Ensemble will be conducted by Professor of Choral/Vocal Music Education Dr. Gena Poovey.

Global Experience

Limestone officials recently unveiled more plans for upcoming “Global Experience” trips that will be sending undergraduate Day Campus students – as part of their tuition – to some of the most iconic locations in the world.

Future excursions and their associated academic focuses have just been added, including trips to the French Riviera (Cultural Emersion) and Greece & the Greek Isles (Business & Culture) in the fall of 2021, and then Portugal and Spain (History) and Vancouver (Sustainability) in the spring of 2022.

Limestone College’s Department of Theatre will present “Valley of the Shadow” during a three-show run November 1-3.

Show time is at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, and Saturday, Nov. 2. There will be a 3 p.m. performance on Sunday, Nov. 3.

Limestone Theatre is located at 130 Leadmine Street in Gaffney.
