Shannon Hamrick Park Dedication Ceremony
Due to the threat of heavy rains on Friday, the dedication ceremony for Shannon Hamrick Park at Limestone College has been moved up a day to Thursday, April 18, at 5 p.m.
Limestone’s baseball series this weekend against King University has been changed to a double-header on Thursday, with the dedication ceremony of Shannon Hamrick Park taking place between games. The public is invited to attend the baseball games and the dedication ceremony. The ceremony will also be broadcast live on WZZQ at 104.3 FM and at www.wzzqradio.com.
Located off Hetty Hill Street, Shannon Hamrick Park surrounds the Founders FCU Stadium entrance and has transformed the baseball complex into an attractive park setting.
Shannon Hamrick, who died in 2008 at the age of 36, was a beloved member of the Gaffney community who was invested in local sports and outdoor activities. His passion for baseball was evident as he coached Little League in Gaffney and was an avid supporter of the Saints’ program.
A new walkway from the Cunning Victory Bell Tower now leads into Shannon Hamrick Park where students and visitors can enjoy an attractive flower garden, fountain, and other amenities. As a part of the project, the areas along the back and sides of the baseball grandstands have new brick façades and signage. A raised patio area along the third base side of the field offers a new seating area for baseball spectators. In addition, new restroom facilities have been constructed.
