Happy Halloween 2020

The annual “Trick-or-Treat With The Saints” event at Limestone University has been cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Held annually since 2010, the event has welcomed thousands of local children and their families to the front campus of Limestone as a safe alternative to door-to-door trick-or-treating. Student organizations and athletic teams traditionally hand out candy and other treats to the costumed ghosts and goblins who flock to the historic campus and the end of College Drive.

“We are disappointed because this has been such a family-friendly event for so many years,” said Limestone President Dr. Darrell Parker. “Due to the large number of visitors we typically welcome to our campus, we felt pausing the event this year was the responsible thing to do. We love having the community join us here each Halloween. However, our top priority is to keep our campus community, and our beloved local community, as safe as possible. We look forward to bringing our not-so-scary trick-or-treat event back and bigger than ever next year.”

Limestone’s annual Halloween event is customarily held on October 31 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Safety guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention discourage Americans from taking part in traditional trick-or-treating this year. CDC officials say the risks on Halloween can be lowered in a multitude of ways, mainly by keeping activities in the home or backyard, or in a controlled walk around the neighborhood.
