Limestone College held a special graduation ceremony on Monday, May 6, for two members of the Saints men's golf team who will be unable to attend Friday's scheduled commencement because of an NCAA Division II National Championship Regional in Florida.

The early graduation ceremony was held in the Rilling Hall of Fame Room inside the Bob Campbell Field House. Last May, Limestone had a similar early graduation for senior members of the women's lacrosse team who were competing in NCAA tournament action.

The two golf graduates include Brett Girasella Krekorian (Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Economics) and Filip Mikael Sandberg (Bachelor of Science in Physical Education/Strength and Conditioning). Sandberg graduated Magna Cum Laude.

"Today is for you. This is a milestone for you and for Limestone," College President Dr. Darrell Parker said during the ceremony. "You are joining a group of over 21,000 living alumni. Since 1845, we have produced graduates who have shaped destinies of their communities, their states, and their countries. They have had success in business and they have had success in sports. We expect you to join them."

Parker and Limestone Provost Dr. Karen Gainey presided over the brief ceremony.

The nationally 17th-ranked Limestone men's golf team will compete in its sixth straight NCAA South/Southeast Regional this weekend.

The Saints will face off against the top 20 teams from both the South and Southeast Regions at the Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL on May 9-11. The top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with an advancing team will then move on to play in the finals of the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship at The Resort at Glade Spring in Daniels, WV on May 20-24.

Limestone, which posted one its highest finishes at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional a season ago, placed third at the recent Conference Carolinas Championship.

Krekorian (Andover, MA) and senior Filip Sandberg (Orebro, Sweden) lead the Saints heading into the national playoffs as the duo has combined for eight top-10 finishes so far this year. Krekorian and Sandberg both own a runner-up placement on their resume during the 2018-2019 campaign.

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster will the be guest speaker at Limestone's two regularly scheduled graduations this Friday, May 10, inside Fullerton Auditorium.
