Limestone Lacrosse Leads Way With 3 Former Players In Canadian Team Pool

The Canadian Men’s Indoor Lacrosse Team has announced its pool of 28 players – and no college has more representatives on the squad than Limestone.

Saints alums Shayne Jackson, Colton Watkinson, and Brett Mydske made the list that was announced earlier this week.

All of the 28 athletes are professional players in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) and some are Team Canada alumni. From the pool, a final roster of 23 will be selected.

The Canadian Men’s Indoor Lacrosse Team will play at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship (WILC) in Langley, B.C. from Sept. 19-28, 2019. Canada has taken home gold at the WILC since it started in 2003.

Jackson is a member of both the NLL Georgia Swarm, Watkinson is a member of the New England Black Wolves, and Mydske is a member of the Saskatchewan Rush.

While Limestone leads the way with three members in the current pool, two schools have two members, and 15 have one member.

“The coaching staff has spent considerable time reviewing the candidates for the Canadian National Team,” said Eddie Comeau, General Manager of the Canadian Men’s Box Lacrosse Team. “It is a tough task to reduce our list to our player pool and then the staff faces an even tougher challenge to select the 23 who will represent Canada at the WILC.”
