Limestone Homecoming & Alumni Weekend Set For September 28-29

As Saints alumni from all across the globe come marching home, several special events are scheduled for Limestone College’s upcoming Alumni and Homecoming Weekend festivities on Friday, Sept. 28, and Saturday, Sept. 29.

This year’s events will kick off with the Inauguration of Dr. Darrell Parker as Limestone’s 22nd President on September 28 at 10 a.m. inside Fullerton Auditorium. In celebration of Dr. Parker and Homecoming, a front campus picnic will take place following the Inauguration at 11:30 a.m.

Alumni and campus guests are also invited to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Vera Jones Mitchell Finance Lab, to be held at 2 p.m. on the first floor of Montgomery Building.

Following the Presidential Inauguration and ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Office of Alumni Affairs will host a Reunion Reception at 3 p.m. for all Alumni in the formal parlors of the Curtis Administration Building.

Starting at 6 p.m., the Alumni Awards Banquet will take place to recognize The Golden Alumni Achievement Award, The Alumni of the Year Award, The Alumni Service Award, and the brand new Rock Solid Young Alumni Awards.

The 1974-1981 Cluster Reunion will begin at 7 p.m. at Eight Oaks, the home of Pam Cazel, Class of 1978. Eight Oaks is located at 209 South Johnson Street in Gaffney.

On September 29, the College will host the Class of 1968 for The Golden Reunion Brunch and Reception. The Reception will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Brunch at 10 a.m. Both events will be held in the Stephenson Dining Hall Banquet Room.

The afternoon will be filled with fun and friends as Alumni & Homecoming Weekend events conclude with The Big Blue Tailgate and Homecoming football game.

The Big Blue Tailgate will be held at the Sleep Easy Tailgate Lot, located at 437 Hyatt Street in Gaffney, just steps away from the stadium, from 12 noon until 3:35 p.m. The parking cost is $5 per car (cash only) and parking is on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking will also be available in surrounding lots. Outside food and personal coolers are welcome, but no glass containers please. Guests are also encouraged to bring a bag chair.

The Big Blue Tailgate will again feature a large Mobile Party Bar that includes four large flat screen televisions that will be showing live college football broadcasts from across the country.  There will be corn hole boards and other fun activities for the entire family. While supplies last, there will be a number of giveaway items, compliments of the Limestone College Alumni Office.

The Homecoming football game will be played at Gaffney High School's stadium, known as The Reservation, as Limestone kicks off against Mars Hill at 4 p.m. Tickets to the game are available at the stadium box office and can also be purchased in advance online at www.GoLimestoneSaints.com.
