Limestone College To Graduate 281 Students During Commencements

With the spring semester coming to a close, Limestone College will hold three commencement exercises this week at Fullerton Auditorium.

Limestone will confer a total of 281 degrees during those graduations planned for May 7-9. Board of Trustees Chairman Richard Baines will welcome graduates, family members and guests each day.

The day program students will graduate Thursday, May 7, at 4 p.m. A luncheon at Stephenson Dining Hall will be held for those graduates at 12 noon, and following a 1:30 p.m. rehearsal, Limestone president Dr. Walt Griffin will host a reception in their honor at 2:30 p.m. at the Curtis Administration Building. The commencement speaker on Thursday will be Dr. Scott Berry, Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Limestone.

As part of Thursday’s commencement, William Brown will be recognized with an Honorary Doctoral Degree; Dr. Anne Lockwood will be awarded Faculty Emerita status; and Dr. William H. (Bill) Baker will be awarded Vice President Emeritus status.

Brown will be honored by Limestone particularly for his philanthropic support of the College and his service on the Board of Trustees.

Dr. Anne Lockwood is a retiring Professor of English at Limestone who has demonstrated outstanding service to her students, her colleagues, and to the college community overall during her 16-year tenure.
Dr. Baker is retiring after 18 years of leadership at Limestone. From 1997 until 2013, Dr. Baker served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement, administering the alumni, fund raising, and communications departments. Since 2013, he has been Special Assistant to the President for Public Affairs.

Graduation for the Online & Evening classroom students will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 8. Those graduates will enjoy a brunch at 10:30 p.m., followed by a campus tour by Dr. Griffin at 12 noon. Following a 1:30 p.m. rehearsal, Dr. Griffin’s reception in their honor will begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday’s commencement address will be delivered by Angela Williams, Instructor of Accounting at Limestone. 

The Online & Evening internet students will graduate on Saturday, May 9, and will follow the same schedule as the Online & Evening classroom students. Saturday’s speaker will be Dr. Stephen Fast, Professor of Mathematics and Chair of Limestone’s Mathematics Department.

Including the 433 from the December commencements, Limestone College will graduate a total of 714 students during the 2014-2015 academic year.
