Limestone College "Candelabra" Launch Party Set For April 29

Limestone’s Candelabra is hot off the press and the College is planning a launch party for the magazine on April 29.

Each year, Limestone publishes the Candelabra, a literary and art magazine that displays the best works of contributors, including poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, and visual art. The launch party will start at 5:30 p.m. in the Granberry Hall Art Gallery.

In celebration of the contributors and their works, artists and authors will have the opportunity to discuss their pieces and contributors can sign up for the open mic, where they can share their published work. Refreshments will also be provided for those who attend.

“We are excited to be publishing creative work by students and alumni in this year’s magazine,” said Professor of English Erin Pushman. “We received a large pool of submissions this year, and we hope to receive even more next year. We invite everyone to come out to the launch party and visit with our amazing contributors.”

The Candelabra has a long history at Limestone College and dates back to the 1950s. This year’s magazine is unique in that it includes contributions from both students and alumni. Student editors helped to produce the magazine.

“The arts continue to play a vital role on our campus, and this publication includes enchanting artwork, poems, essays, and short stories from our students,” Limestone President Dr. Parker wrote in a letter published inside the magazine. “The Candelabra enables us to display our campus’s creative side through the arts. With this publication, the goal of our students was to capture their artistic energy and share it with you. Mission accomplished.”
