Please visit the Health Center and Counseling Services webpages for additional information on what is offered. Dates to RememberClosings Students must make arrangements to leave their residence halls within 24 hours of their last exam in December and May. Students will be given instructions for closing their rooms during break times. Returning to CampusStudents are not allowed to re-enter the residence halls until the official time of opening each semester. Please make travel arrangements so that your son or daughter does not arrive back on campus prior to the opening of residence halls. EmergenciesWhether it’s sickness or injury, emergencies are an inevitable part of life. Knowing where to turn for assistance and/or information is important! The Office of Student Services maintains a 24-hour administrator on-call system to assist students and parents in the event of an emergency. Students and parents may contact the staff member by contacting the Office of Public Safety at 864.488.8344. On rare occasions, it may be necessary to cancel classes due to weather related conditions. The Executive Vice President will notify the Vice President for Student Services by 7:00 a.m., so this information can be posted in the residence halls and communicated through campus voice mail. Extended Campus students and Commuting students will be notified of cancelled classes by means of local radio and television stations in Gaffney, Spartanburg, and Greenville. Property Insurance (Renter’s Insurance Information)Your student needs to protect his/her property. We want to inform you about a new service for students living on and off campus. While Limestone College cannot and does not cover students’ lost, stolen or damaged property, we certainly recognize your need for ensuring the safety of your property. The College does not recommend or endorse any individual insurance company, but we have a link to National Student Services, Inc., to show you an example of a nationwide student property insurance company. We strongly urge all families to consider purchasing some form of renter’s insurance. In addition, this is a lnk to local insurance companies We would encourage you to take a look at the National Student Services, Inc. (NSSI) website for additional information. The NSSI website provides students the opportunity to apply for coverage, renew or modify existing coverage, and obtain all the information they need about their program. NSSI insurance provides coverage to enrolled students for breakage, fire, theft, vandalism, water damage and more, whether students live on campus, off campus, in residence halls, or apartments. It covers loss or damage, occurring during the policy period, to enrolled students’ personal property, except as excluded in the “Property Not Covered” and “Special Provisions” sections of the policy (which limit both liability coverage as well as coverage on items such as CD’s, jewelry, and bicycles). There is no coverage for mysterious disappearance (unless stolen), mechanical or electrical breakdown, wear or tear, corrosion and rust, nuclear war or governmental seizure. In other words, this type of coverage is a starting point that can take pressure off homeowner’s insurance in the event of a claim. Please review the items covered, excluded, deductible levels, etc. Limestone College is a safe and caring environment, but, like your home, it still requires forethought about protecting personal belongings. We encourage you to look over the website, talk to your insurance agent and consider some form of renter’s insurance. You can get more information from NSSI at www.nssinc.com or 1-800-256-6774. Feel free to contact the Office of Student Services if you have any questions. Health CenterThe Health Center is located on the 1st floor of the Dixie Lodge/Dobson Student Center. The Center offers basic medical service to students, faculty and staff of Limestone College. Students with chronic conditions are advised to work with a medical practitioner in the Gaffney area, who can monitor their long-term needs. In order to give proper attention to students' physical and emotional health needs, the following policy will be observed:
Our Health Center is required by law to protect the privacy of your personal health information. Upon request, the College will provide you with information about our practices. Academic QuestionsIf a student has a question or concern about an academic course, the student should consult with the course professor directly. Academic regulations and procedures are explained in the Limestone College Academic Catalog. Please note that students must take their exams during the scheduled exam period. Exams may only be changed in case of medical emergency or if the student has more than 2 exams scheduled for one day. Please consult the exam schedule prior to making travel arrangements.
