Karen W. Gainey, Executive Vice President/ Vice President for Academic Affairs

gainey_dr__karenThe vice president for academic affairs is the chief academic officer of the university.  Responsible directly to the president for all academic matters, the vice president has administrative responsibility for teaching, research, registration, academic advising, financial aid, academic support services, and the library.

The executive vice president assists in the day-to-day operation of the College, implementing plans and policies to achieve overall institutional objectives. In the absence of the president, the executive vice president presides over the affairs of the College.

Dr. Karen Gainey became Vice President for Academic Affairs in May 2005 and Executive Vice President in July 2008.  She came to Limestone College in 1994 as Associate Professor of English.  She has served as Chair of the Department of English and Modern Languages, as Chair of the Division of Arts and Letters, as Associate Dean, and as Academic Dean.  Since 2001, she has been Montague McMillan Professor of English.

Dr. Gainey earned a B. A. from Clemson University; an M. A. from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona; and a Ph.D. from the University of Tulsa.

Mrs. Renee Clyburn serves as Dr. Gainey's Administrative Assistant.


Dr. Mark Reger, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs

reger_markThe associate vice president for academic affairs assists the vice president for academic affairs with issues related to academic programs of the College.  Primary areas of responsibility include working with division chairs, department chairs, and faculty members, resolving student requests for exceptions and appeals, and assuring college-wide academic quality.  The associate vice president represents the faculty perspective to the administration and the administration perspective to the faculty.

Dr. Mark Reger became Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs in August  2008 when he joined the Limestone faculty.  He also serves as a Professor of English.  Prior to coming to Limestone College, Dr. Reger held various administrative posts at Mississippi Valley State University, Avila University, and Johnson C. Smith University.

Dr. Reger received an A.B. in English Education and an M.A. in English from the University of Missouri, St. Louis.  He was awarded the Ph.D. in English from the University of Missouri, Columbia.

Ms. Donna Cody serves as Dr. Reger's Administrative Assistant.
