Limestone Now Offering MBA Degree In Healthcare Administration

Limestone College is now offering a Healthcare Administration concentration to its online Master’s in Business Administration Program for students seeking a leadership career in healthcare-related fields.

“This concentration is for anyone who wants to be a leader or manager in healthcare,” said MBA Program Director Dr. Shannon Creighton. “The MBA program is not just for business students anymore. There is a huge need for healthcare management, which is the business side of healthcare. The healthcare system needs leaders who understand the business aspect.”

Starting in April, Limestone students have the option of earning an MBA with a concentration in healthcare. Those interested can apply or get more information by visiting the www.limestone.edu website. The MBA Program office can be contacted by calling (864) 488-4370.

Currently, one in every six jobs in America is in the healthcare industry. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of medical and health services managers is projected to grow at a rate of 17 percent, much faster than other employment fields. There will be over 56,000 more health care administration jobs added in this field by 2024.

“Many healthcare employers are encouraging more middle managers to receive a master's degree in administration or be in the process of seeking such a credential,” Creighton explained. “Here at Limestone, we can help make that happen. Middle managers in healthcare are responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating medical and health services for an entire facility, a specific department, or a medical practice.”

Limestone’s program allows students to earn their MBA in only 20 months, with classes broken out into eight-week courses. Established in 2012, the program is designed for working professionals who are looking for flexible online classes that provide learning opportunities day or night and group work coupled with three strategic on-site residency weekends. The residency weekends are held at the beginning, middle, and end of the program.

Limestone’s MBA Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs. The ACBSP accreditation standards are modeled on the Baldridge National Quality Program. MBA programs accredited by ACBSP are committed to continuous improvement that ensures students’ degrees will give them the skills they need and employers want.
