Christmas on Campus
Concerts, tree lighting ceremony, complete with a visit from Santa…the tradition of celebrating Christmas on Campus dates back to 1984 when the late Les Gregory, a former employee and graduate of Limestone College, arranged for 200 luminaries to be lit in honor of retired Limestone College professor Lucy G. Wheeler. With that, Christmas on Campus was born.
Since Gregory's inception, the luminaries have grown from 200 to over 10,000 candles and Christmas on Campus has evolved into one of the most anticipated nights of the year at the Gaffney-based College. Student athletes play a big role in this event as they are responsible for placing and lighting the luminaries across campus and in area neighborhoods.
Each year Limestone College alumni have the chance to reconnect with friends and take a stroll down memory lane. This annual event brings together the entire community of alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff, and friends for a celebration packed with activities – including sporting events, the Athletics Hall of Fame Induction, a campus-wide picnic, the annual Saints Club Golf Tournament, and more. Throughout the weekend, parents and families have the opportunity to visit their students and learn more about the Limestone experience.
Annual Limestone on Limestone
“College Night” on Limestone Street takes place each year, as the City of Gaffney and local business owners welcome college students back to the community with open arms. Students are treated to a free meal, a concert, as well as a plethora of opportunities to earn their share of goodies! An event which has become an annual fixture during the “Welcome Back Bash” is the frozen T-shirt contest. Soaked in water and placed in a freezer for several days, the first contestant able to unroll the shirt winds up winning the contest, being able to take the prize home. Performances are also entertained by Limestone College Marching Band, Competitive Cheer Squad, and Dance Team.
