"Miss Limestone College" Pageant Set For February 13

Nine contestants will vie for the title of “Miss Limestone College” during a pageant on Saturday, Feb. 13, at Fullerton Auditorium.

The event, sponsored by the Limestone Activity Board, will begin at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. Advance tickets are $5 each through the Limestone Student Services office and $7 at the door (cash only).

In addition to having the opportunity to advance into the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Pageant, the winner will serve for a year as an ambassador for Limestone in the community and at select on-campus events at the College.

The Miss Limestone College pageant will follow the format of a Miss South Carolina local preliminary with contestants competing in talent, evening wear, lifestyle and physical fitness, private interview, and on stage question.

The Miss South Carolina Scholarship Pageant will be held at Township Auditorium in Columbia June 21-25.

Miss Limestone College 2015 Alayna Downey will crown the winner on Feb. 13. Downey, a Gaffney native, was the first Miss Limestone College since 1997 to go on to compete in the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Pageant. Earning over $1,000 in scholarships at Miss South Carolina, Downey won Overall Non-Finalist Swimsuit, the Presidential Volunteer Service Award, and the Duke of Edinburg Award. She also finished in the top five in the People’s Choice voting.

The Miss Limestone College pageant is being directed by Jamal Chavous, with assistance from Hailey P. Martin who will serve as the Miss South Carolina Facilitator for the representative from Limestone. The pageant on Feb. 13 will be co-emceed by Hannah Peay and Caitlin Russell.
