Open Forums Held As Limestone's Search For New President Continues

The executive search firm assisting Limestone College with the pursuit of its next president recently conducted a number of open forums on campus.

The purpose of the meetings was to gather information in regard to the characteristics that Limestone’s constituents would like to see in the next president.

AGB Search consultants Dr. James Davis and Dr. Melinda Leonardo presided over the open forums.

Based in Washington, DC, AGB Search is an executive search firm that has an exclusive focus on higher education leadership.

There were a number of open forums held July 25-26 for faculty, staff, administration, students, alumni, and current trustees. Other groups invited to forums included local state legislative delegation members, Cherokee County community and business leaders, and past members of the Board of Trustees.

Dr. Walt Griffin, who has led Limestone College since 1992, announced in April his plans to retire later this year. Dr. Griffin will continue to serve as Limestone’s president through the end of the 2017 fall semester that concludes with graduation ceremonies December 14-16.

Additional informational sessions are planned in the near future, according to David Riggins, the Board of Trustees Vice-Chair who is overseeing the Presidential Search Committee. Those sessions are expected soon with Limestone College Online & Evening and MBA Program students, faculty, and staff.

Anyone who would like to comment on the leadership attributes they would like to see in Limestone’s next president can do so my visiting the Presidential Search Webpage located at www.limestone.edu.

Riggins added that once all of the forums are conducted, AGB will begin creating the job description for the new president. Soon after, AGB Search will consult with the Presidential Search Committee to recruit a pool of candidates, screen and evaluate those candidates, and make recommendations on applicants to interview. Finalists for the position will selected by the Presidential Search Committee, and it will make a recommendation to the full Board of Trustees in December.
