Limestone College's Department of Physical Education-Teacher Licensure K-12 was a prominent presence at the 2012 South Carolina Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Convention. The event was held November 9-11 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Limestone seniors Kevin Hart of Menifee, CA and Matthew Varnadoe of Charlotte, N.C., both of whom are pursuing their degrees in Physical Education at Limestone, joined their cooperating teachers, Cameron Brooks and Dave Reams of Gaffney High School, in a presentation entitled "Aerobic Ping-Pong and Corn Hole."

Hart and Varnadoe illustrated how both games are excellent ways for children to become more active in non-traditional activities. Ping pong is an aerobic workout using two-four players per table while corn hole is used as the activity to promote eye-hand coordination. Both Hart and Varnadoe were also recipients of a year's membership in the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, and will attend the organization's national AAHPERD national conference scheduled for late April in Charlotte.

Dr. Cindy Cavanaugh, Associate Professor of Physical Education at Limestone, led an open discussion among educators and those who are interested in higher education, in a discussion of events, concerns, impact of legislation and other topics as it concerns higher education. In her audience were representatives from Clemson University, University of South Carolina, Coker University, The Citadel, South Carolina University, and Limestone.
