Formerly the Limestone Elementary School, the building has been transformed into a State-of-the-Art facility that now houses the majority of Limestone's athletic offices. It also is home to the College's Athletics Hall of Fame and features a media room with widescreen televisions that can be used for various meetings as well as for individual teams to review game film.

The building is also a unique instance of athletics and academics co-existing in the same facility. The Limestone Center, in addition to being the primary office space for Athletics, is also home to the Theatre Department and houses the theater itself and a set design workshop in one end of the building.

Among the many features of the building is a redesigned exterior that includes stone facades and covered entry ways across the front of the facility. The interior has been completely redone with hardwood flooring and an array of wall wraps that celebrate Limestone athletics history.

"When it was constructed in the 1950s, before the time of integration, this building served as Southside Elementary School for African-American children. Later it served all students as Limestone Elementary School. And most recently, it housed numerous older Cherokee County students who required special assistance to complete their education," said Dr. Walt Griffin, President of Limestone.

"At Limestone, we envisioned how this historic facility, with much hard work and investment of both money and time, could serve the needs of our students. The product of those dreams is what you see before you today and what probably cannot be found on any other college campus in America-a building that serves the needs of both an academic department (theatre) and an athletics department. It is a building which dramatically symbolizes Limestone's commitment to excellence both in academics and athletics."
