Professor Among Select Few to Take Part in Bioinformatics Institute

Dr. Suzanne Lindley

The American Society for Microbiology has selected Dr. Suzanne Lindley, Associate Professor of Biology at Limestone College, to take part in its Bioinformatics Institute March 10-14 in Washington, DC.

Lindley is one of 22 professors who were selected to participate through competitive applications. Other institutions represented by participants are Duke University, the University of Minnesota, the University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa) and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Bioinformatics refers to the use of computers to handle voluminous amounts of biological information such as the human genome. With new technology, research scientists can more easily and efficiently store, search and characterize the genetic code of genes, the proteins linked to each gene and their associated functions.

“Quartet for the End of Time” Rescheduled for March 11, 7:30 pm

A Converse Trio performance of "Quartet for the End of Time" has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 11th at 7:30 pm in Fullerton Auditorium.

"Quartet for the End of Time" premiered on January 15, 1941 in frigid Barrack 27 of the World War II Nazi prison camp Stalag VIII-A. Olivier Messiaen, who wrote the score, was joined by three of his fellow prisoners in the large garrison-which had been converted to serve as a theater-to perform the piece as hundreds of other prisoners and their Nazi guards looked on.

The Converse Trio will perform the 50-minute piece with various elements of multi-media. Admission is free and open to the public.

Limestone Names New Director for Athletic Development and Marketing

Eric Stahl

Eric Stahl has been hired as Director for Athletic Development and Marketing at Limestone College.

In his duties, Stahl is responsible for the direction and development of the Saints Club (the college's athletic booster club) and for fund raising and marketing in support of the College's intercollegiate athletics program.
