A solo exhibition of works by Chris Neyen is on display through November 19th  in Limestone College's A.J. Eastwood Library Art Gallery. Neyen is the newest faculty member of Limestone's Art Department.

The exhibit, entitled "Proximities," will display about 20 pieces from various mediums such as oil paint, charcoal, image transfer and collage, and mixed media. Neyen, whose work references the connection between the environment and the human experience, often incorporates the application of traditional brushes, scrapers and printer brayers to create "a convergence... that unifies certain elements while contrasting others," Neyen explains. The use of semi-transparent layers adds an air of mystery to his art.

Neyen, who specializes in graphic design, joined the Limestone faculty this past August as an Assistant Professor of Art. After receiving his bachelor's in Communication Arts from the School of Visual Arts in 1988, he earned his MFA in Painting from the Academy of Art University in 2010. Neyen's art has been presented in various exhibits over the years, including two solo exhibitions in 2009 and 2010.
